S&S® Camshafts for evolution engines With the exception of the bolt-in 510V camshafts, S&S cams are high lift and designed to take advantage of the extra flow of ported stock heads or S&S Super Stock® heads. Due to the high lift of these cams, S&S adjustable pushrods and high performance valve springs are recommended. Fitment • 1984–’99 big twins Applications 510V: Bolt-in cam that works well with stock or ported heads. Improved ramp design results in low valve train noise. Meant for engines up to 96” and 10:1 compression ratio. 3000-5000 rpm. 546 Cam: Intended as a replacement part for S&S emissions certified engines, this is a short duration emissions cam with very little overlap to reduce emissions of unburned hydrocarbons. Requires high lift springs and normal clearance checks. 1000-4000 rpm (111”-124”). 561 Cam: For 80”–96” engines at 9.5:1–10.5:1 compression ratio. If your shop installs a lot of performance cams in single cam big twin engines, this kit can save you a lot of time and aggravation. The S&S Cam Installer Parts Kit contains a variety of parts that you need to correctly install a new camshaft. First there is a five pack of S&S cam bearings. It is standard practice to replace the cam bearing any time a new cam shaft is installed. These are the early style full roller type bearings recommended for any high performance application. Also included are five each of a variety of S&S cam thrust washers for adjusting end-play of the camshaft. Thrust washers range from .050” to .090” thickness in increments of .010”. In addition, the kit contains five cam lock washers, five cam seals, and one pinion nut.
