Good for owners of 1984-’99 style chassis who would like to upgrade to a more modern power plant. S&S® offers two styles of crankcases, one for each application. The first type of crankcase is intended to replace the crankcases in Harley- Davidson® Twin Cam 88® engines in existing Harley-Davidson® chassis only. S&S® stock style crankcases have a rear motor mount that bolts directly to the stock 1999-’06 transmission for all models except 2006 Dyna™. These crankcases are compatible with the stock primary, charging system, and other stock components. S&S® replacement crankcases are not available for Twin Cam 88B™ or 2007- later Twin Cam 96™ or Twin Cam 96B™ engines. The second type of crankcases is machined with a rear motor mount similar to that of an Evolution® big twin engine, and will bolt directly into stock or aftermarket frames for 1984-‘99 big twins. This type of crankcase uses the 1984-’99 style sprocket shaft seal, seal spacer, and alternator stator coil since it is intended to bolt up to the existing primary drive system of motorcycles of that year group. Otherwise, the two case styles are nearly identical. Both styles are available for stock bore, 4” bore, and 41/8 ” bore engines, and are available in natural aluminum or black powdercoat finish. Stock bore cases are perfect for replacement applications, 4” bore cases are a natural for use with the S&S® Super Sidewinder® Hot Set Up Kits®, and 4-1/8 ” bore cases make really large displacement custom engines possible. Features: • Greater overall strength than stock crankcases, especially in the front motor mount, an important consideration in high performance applications. • All S&S® crankcases use strong, dependable Timken® style sprocket shaft bearings to stand up to the most demanding applications. • Available in stock bore, 4” bore, and 4-1/8” bore versions. • Clearanced for strokes up to and including 5”. • All passages between the crankcase cam support plate are o-ring sealed. • Compatible with most stock components. • Cam chest has clearance for up to .675” lift cams. • Includes the S&S® crankcase breather reed valve for Twin Cam 88 engines designed to eliminate oil carryover and oil scavenging problems.
